Hello there! I am Karen, I am a Scottish photographer from Kilmarnock (which is 25 minutes from Glasgow)who stumbled into weddings after working with children and families for years. I truly feel that I have found my passion in a place where I never intended heading. I aim for a relaxed, natural approach favouring natural light when photographing your wedding and look to capture the essence of your fabulous day which is shown in your photos. Lets have a chat. Why should you book your wedding photography with me?

After the weddings I send out a questionnaire to my couples asking for their feedback, here are some of their answers below. 

What was your biggest fear before hiring me? Did it come true, and if not, what happened instead?”

We didn’t have any fears about hiring we were just nervous about being in front of the camera, but you made us both feel so relaxed and comfortable! (Rachel and Callum)

Our biggest fear was not being able to find someone who could understand how we wanted our day captured, but Karen was absolutely outstanding and went above and beyond to get the most precious moments so perfectly! (Abbie and Zach)

Worried that it would be difficult to get all the photos we wanted and it would be boring constant photos… didn’t feel like this at all you made it fun. (Carol and Kyle)

I genuinely had to fears once hiring Karen to do our wedding day. From day one Karen was so responsive to any messages and also organised a meet and greet before the big day where she was so down to earth when we went along to her studio. Generally chatting and showing is some lovely album she has previously made. We left feeling confident Karen would do a great job! And that she did. (Gemma and Darren)

What, specifically, was your favorite part of your wedding, and why?

My favourite part was when you were taking photos of us in the wall garden, we felt so relaxed and you captured some beautiful photos of us that showed our personalities perfectly. (Aimee and Antony)

My favourite part of my wedding day would probably have to be just after the ceremony having our pictures taken. We where so lucky with the weather as it turned out to be a scorching day and our guest could relax in the sun having a drink listening to some music and having pictures taken. I also loved before the meal listening to everyone’s speeches (Gemma and Darren)

We decided to keep our wedding just close friends and family and a group of 45. I’d say looking back at everyone after being announced as husband and wife was probably my favourite part. (Rachel and Callum)

Was photography at your wedding comfortable, and relaxed?

Absolutely! Karen is so easy to talk to and a good laugh! She had us both at ease and often just used her own initiative to capture some great moments / things whilst we were occupied with something else so we never felt the need to ask her to do anything, she was already on top of it all! Absolutely, I didn’t want any posed or awkward photos. I’d asked for group family ones to tick that box but then for just casual candid ones of Callum and I and we both commented after how we felt so relaxed. It was so nice to just wander about and have a conversation and banter with Karen sometimes you forget you’re being photographed! (Rachel and Callum)

It was amazing!! Karen is absolutely fabulous at blending in and capturing pictures without even realising she is there in front of you. After looking back at our photographs and particularly looking at the ceremony and speech photographs we can’t even remember having Karen with us and taking any of these pics. Karen was a hit with guests also and they have since mentioned to me how great she was! Very friendly and gets the job done but in a good way. As we prepared to get ready Karen also just felt like someone you already knew there getting ready with you with no awkwardness at all and just chatting away with the bridal party and the other suppliers there at the time. We were slightly worried that the photos might look too “staged” or the lighting would be unnatural as this was what we’d seen from a few other photographers. However, after seeing your work at previous weddings, we really liked your style of photography which is why we hired you and we’re really happy with our photos!(Victoria and Stuart)

I already have and I’ve said because your whole booking process was very streamlined and simple, you were great with the kids we had at the wedding and you kept everyone in order. You helped Callum and I keep calm and we both felt very comfortable getting our photos taken. We’re over the moon with how our photos look and they were back a lot quicker than we had expected which was great! (Rachel and Callum)

Can we meet you before we book our wedding photography? Of course! Though it is not compulsory, I always recommend meeting any supplier you book. You can tell a lot from a person just by meeting them. It’s important to know you can trust every vendor who plays a part in your big day. We can have a phone call, zoom or chat in my home studio in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.

How many images do we receive? I get this question a lot, and ultimately I cannot say an exact guaranteed number as it depends on each individual wedding. On average you will receive 500-700 fully edited, high-resolution images with personal printing rights.

When will we receive our images? My turn around time for online gallery delivery is 4-6 weeks and 6-8 weeks during peak wedding season (July-September).

Are you insured and do you have back-up equipment? Yes and yes! I am fully insured with public liability insurance as well as business insurance for my equipment.
